I’m so sick and tired of reading post after post on my dash about how dancers wish they had another ballerina’s feet, legs, extensions, flexibility, the ability to do turns or jumps higher, etc. I have literally never seen a post with someone saying that they wish they had another ballerina’s artistry, musicality, emotional depth, or the power to engage an audience so much so that they weep or cheer in appreciation. I believe the latter set of qualities far outweighs the former in what makes you an incredible dancer. I think that if a dancer works hard and smart then they can be very talented in that aspect but artistry is not as easily attainable as technique, you either have it in you or you don’t.
