i remember i would lay in bed and WISH to be on pointe more than anything. i remember all day i would try to build strength in my calves and ankles and increase my flexibility. here are some tips for you :)
- do releves like 86948 times a day in sets of 32.
- draw the alphabet with your feet, like lay on your back and act like you a have a pencil on the end of your foot and write the alphabet. you can do this repeatedly
- to increase flexibility stretch every day. that is a given but really stretch everyday like push yourself until you think you cant anymore and just remember what your goal is.
- in class watch the older girls or the best one in your level. see what quality it is that makes her so good and try to do exactly what she does. i still do this in every class!
- Tips for Flexibility
i have practiced my splits a lot recently just because my recital has been coming up and i want to have a leap that looks like an oversplit. when i was first training i would hold my splits until i felt like i was going to cry. (1-2 mins usually) but now that i can stay down for like ever so i elevate one of my legs to like a chair or something to get an oversplit look
- How can i make my foot have a higher arch. i basically have no arch and i really want to have good feet!
i push over them all the time, at school, in the car, at barre. sometimes if i hold onto the barre i can stand on my toes, like on pointe, but with ballet shoes on and i get a really good streach. The girls at my studio put tennis balls under their arches and stand. If it hurts you are doing it right
- How can i Gain Calve/leg Strength?
okay so for calve muscles try doing releves. like 200 everyday. incase you doing know what that is….start flat and go on your tippie toes (NOT POINTE) and then lower. repeat. that should do it! if not get a theraband and wrap it around your foot. point and flex as many times as you can before you feel like you’re going to die haha
also jumping from one foot up and down trying to point your foot in between each jump will also help.
- How Can i stretch my back?
just stretch your arabesque everyday, do bridges, put your leg on the barre and pull your hands back to your leg. most people are just born with good backs. it is really hard to improve that. i have a BAD back. haha like my arabesque kindof sucks because of it. anyways, i hope i helped you
